Dalek, aka James Marshall, is one of the artists to emerge from the burgeoning Brooklyn art scene. Taking inspiration from street art, graffiti culture and television, his work effortlessly straddles the divide between the street and High Art. He started painting graffiti in 1994, and his work included a consistently strange yet appealing character that would become his trademark, "Space Monkey", whose popularity blossomed to such an extent that the character now features all over the USA on walls and highway overpasses.
