Dan is a legend among street artists for being the master of painting light and shadow. He was well known in New York for painting candles on the street furniture in concentric circles around the ground zero. This work was probably his way of dealing with 9/11 and was a reminder of the many thousands of candles that came out on the night of the attack because of power cuts. To the bustling commuters these would appear to be real candles sitting on a make do shelf.
